Namibia to construct 220MW power plants in five years

WINDHOEK, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Namibia will add about 220 megawatts to their national power grid in the next five years in a bid to guarantee supply locally, Kahenge Haulofu, managing director of state power utility Nampower, said on Wednesday.

The projects are expected to cost between 2.5 billion to 3 billion Namibian dollars (215 million U.S. dollars) in the set period.

According to Haulofu, biomass, solar, and wind will be utilized for the increased generation capacity.
