RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Sao Paulo could make a bid to sign Paraguay international defender Jorge Moreira from River Plate, the Brazilian club's coach announced on Monday.
A series of injuries have meant that Moreira has not played since last October, but that hasn't dampened the enthusiasm of the current Brazilian Serie A leaders.
"I don't like to talk about players from other clubs but it's true that he is a very good player and we consider him to be a possible [transfer] target," Sao Paulo's Uruguayan coach Diego Aguirre told reporters.
"I've seen a lot of him. He is a potent player with an eye for goal. The [transfer window] closes on Wednesday which makes things difficult," Aguirre added.
Moreira is contracted with River Plate until June 2020, having joined the Argentine club from Paraguay's Libertad in 2016.
The 28-year-old right-back has been capped 15 times for Paraguay since his international debut in 2013.
