RIO DE JANEIRO, July 19 (Xinhua) -- A second-half header from midfielder Everton gave Sao Paulo a 1-0 away victory over Flamengo in their Brazilian Serie A match here on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old nodded in a Joao Rojas cross in the 47th minute at the Maracana Stadium as Sao Paulo rose to second in the 20-team standings with 26 points from 13 matches. Flamengo remain leaders with 27 points.
In Sao Paulo, goals either side of halftime from Rodriguinho and Angel Romero gave Corinthians a 2-0 victory over Botafogo.
Corinthinas moved up to second and Botafogo dropped to 10th.
In Porto Alege, Bressan and Andre scored in the second half as Gremio overcame Atletico Mineiro 2-0.
In other games on Wednesday, Ceara edged out Sporting Recife 1-0 and Vitoria beat Parana club 1-0.
