TOKYO, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Tuesday morning as the yen's retreat against the U.S. dollar sent export-linked issues higher.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 148.49 points, or 0.67 percent, from Monday to 22,236.53.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 13.49 points, or 0.77 percent, at 1,764.28.
Machinery, bank and marine transportation-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
