TOKYO, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday as a weaker yen against the U.S. dollar sent export-related issues higher and buoyed the broader market.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 119.25 points, or 0.54 percent, from Monday to 22,207.29.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 10.49 points, or 0.60 percent, at 1,761.28.
Machinery, real estate and marine transportation-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes from the morning bell.
