ISLAMABAD, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Pakistani parliament on Tuesday opened a debate on the Indian government's decision to cancel the special status of Indian-controlled Kashmir.
Pakistani President Arif Alvi has summoned the emergency session of the parliament to evolve a consensus on the Indian government's decision. Prime Minister Imran Khan is also expected to attend the session, the prime minister’s office said.
An official notification was issued in the name of Indian president on Monday to revoke the special status of the Indian-controlled Kashmir.
Pakistani Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi will represent the country in the meeting of the Kashmir's contact group in the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Qureshi's office said.
