Nairobi, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Boston Marathon champion Lawrence Cherono says it's up to his management and Athletics Kenya to name him in the national team for the World Championships, which will be held in Doha, Qatar in October.

Speaking in Eldoret, Cherono believes he has done enough to warrant a slot in the Kenya team and will be hopeful to make the national team.

The former silver medalists at the Lanzhou Marathon and Shanghai International Marathon believes he has unfinished business in China and will relish the challenge of improving his medal to gold, should he get a call to return to Shanghai.

"China has some of the best organized races. I was second in Shanghai and also in Lanzhou, when I was starting out as a marathon athlete. To return to China and run, hopefully winning will be a major boost in my career. But it is up to the management to make the decision on my next race. For now, I return home, take a rest, go on vacation and hope to return stronger to prepare for the next course of action," said Cherono.

The athlete, who is also the Amsterdam Marathon champion, said that it is important for Kenyan athletes to run and win clean.

"The real champions from Kenya always know what it means to run and win clean. Doping is for the weak and I don't like cheating. That is why I always advice young athletes to remain true to the creed and train hard, win easily," he said.

Cherono, who finished the Boston race first after beating Ethiopia's Lelisa Desisa in a sprint finish, said that the win was as a result of good planning.
