YANGON, April 15 (Xinhua) -- One women was killed, five others were injured and another five went missing in a vessel capsizal on Myanmar's Chindwin river on Monday morning, according to the Sagaing Region Police Force.
Travelling to take part in celebrations of Chindwin Thingyan Festival which is being held in Monywa township, a motorized vessel capsized in the middle of the river at 10:30 a.m. local time.
With 40 people on board, the vessel was dangerously overweight when it sank.
Of them, 35 people were rescued including the injured and one person who died later while five others went missing.
A Search and rescue operation for the missing ones is underway by the authorities and the injured were brought to the Monywa General Hospital for treatment.
