PUL-E-KHUMRI, Afghanistan, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Ten Taliban militants including an eminent commander were killed as government forces stormed Taliban positions in northern Baghlan province on Sunday, army spokesman in the northern region Mohammed Hanif Rezai said Monday.
The government forces launched operations against Taliban fighters in Bagh-e-Shamal area on the outskirts of provincial capital Pul-e-Khumri on Sunday afternoon, killing 10 insurgents including prominent commander Mullah Manan on the spot.
Without providing more details, the official said that the government forces would continue to chase the militants elsewhere in the province.
Taliban militants haven't commented yet.
