HANGZHOU, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- Police in east China's Zhejiang Province have arrested six people for organizing online gambling involving nearly 100 million yuan (around 14.5 million U.S. dollars).
In May, police in the county-level city of Shengzhou received a tip-off about a gang that was setting up an online casino via an instant messaging app, involving more than 400 gamblers.
The police then launched a raid on June 29 in Jianli County, central China's Hubei Province, where the chat group organizers were based, resulting in the arrest of six suspects.
The suspects are currently being transferred to Shengzhou's procuratorate for prosecution.
