GHAZNI, Afghanistan, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- At least six militants were confirmed dead and three others sustained injuries as clash erupted between Taliban and government forces in Khogiani district of the eastern Ghazni province on Thursday, provincial government spokesman Aref Nuri said on Friday.
According to the official, the clash broke out in Kariz village of Khogiani district after the militants stormed a security checkpoint on Thursday evening and police returned fire, forcing militants to flee after leaving six bodies behind.
Taliban militants who are active in parts of the troubled Ghazni province have yet to make comments.
