SHIBERGHAN, Afghanistan, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Two police had been confirmed dead after a group of Taliban militants attacked a security checkpoint in Afghanistan's Jawzjan province on Sunday, deputy to provincial police chief Kamaludin Yawar said Monday.
The Taliban insurgents, according to the official, stormed a police checkpoint in Bazgak village of Faizabad district late Sunday night, killing two local police and injuring another.
However, the official asserted that the security forces had launched cleanup operations to wipe out militants in the area.
