KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Two police officers were killed and another wounded following a landmine explosion here on Tuesday, a local official said on Wednesday.
"The incident occurred in Houz-e-Madad area of Zharay district late Tuesday and a police vehicle was also destroyed after the explosion," district chief Amir Zulmay told Xinhua.
The official blamed enemies of peace, a term referring to Taliban militant group for the attack.
Security situation has been improving in Kandahar, the former stronghold of Taliban, over the last months, as security forces have conducted search and cordon operations across the province.
