GHAZNI, Afghanistan, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- At least eight militants have been killed and 12 others wounded after a U.S.-led NATO coalition forces-related airstrike attacked a Taliban hideout in eastern Afghan province of Ghazni, a statement said Sunday.
"The precise strike was launched in Landa Khel village of Ab Band district on Saturday. Three militants' motorcycles were also destroyed after the raid," the Afghan army Corps 201 Thunder based in the region said in the statement.
The province, 125 km south of Kabul, has been the scene of heavy clashes since early this year.
Afghan security forces, backed by the coalition troops, have increased ground and air offensives against militants in the past few months as the country is preparing for parliamentary and district councils elections scheduled to be held on Oct. 20.
The militant group has yet to respond to the report.
