RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- AC Milan have won the race to sign Brazil international midfielder Lucas Paqueta, according to widespread Brazilian media reports on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old completed a medical on Wednesday and will join the Italian Serie A side in January on a five-year deal worth 35 million euros, said Brazil's O Globo newspaper.
Flamengo reportedly beat off interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool.
Paqueta has been a revelation for Flamengo this year as they vie for the club's first Brazilian Serie A title since 2009. The Rio de Janeiro giants are currently four points behind leaders Palmeiras with 10 matches remaining in the season.
The attacking midfielder, who can also be used in a holding role, as a winger or as a second striker, made his international debut in Brazil's 2-0 friendly win over the United States last month.
