YANGON, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar earned 2.2 billion U.S. dollars from garment export during the six-month transitional period which started in April this year, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Wednesday.
Myanmar has changed its fiscal year period from original April-March to October-September beginning 2018-2019, producing a six-month transitional gap.
The value of garment export during six months saw an increase by 1 billion U.S. dollars, compared to the same period in last fiscal year 2017-2018.
The country's garment is mostly exported to Japanese and European markets as well as China, South Korea and the United States.
In last FY 2017-2018, the country earned about 2.5 billion U.S. dollars from garment exports.
There are over 400 garment factories with more than 300,000 workers in the industry.
