MEXICO CITY, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- A magnitude-5.9 earthquake hit Haiti late Saturday, killing at least 10, according to reports reaching here.
Following the tremor, the government has mobilized an emergency task force, said a government spokesperson.
The quake occurred at 8:10 p.m. local time (0010 GMT Sunday). The focus, with a depth of 11.7 km, was located about 20 km northwest of the city of Port-de-Paix, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The Caribbean country was struck by a massive quake in 2010, in which some 200,000 people died. The quake, measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale, was the strongest hitting the country in almost 200 years.
