KUNMING, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Kunming city in southwestern China's Yunnan Province announced on Thursday that it will hold the "Colorful Yunnan-Belt and Road Initiative Kunming International Tennis Tournament" on October 6.
The organizing committee has received applications from the tennis associations in 12 countries and regions along the "Belt and Road".
Nearly 230 players will take part in the event from October 6th to October 14th.
The players will participate in the adult mixed and junior events. After competition, the players will participate the friendship matches with diplomats, officials from tennis associations and entrepreneurs.
The tournament will also set up a "Belt and Road" junior player fund which is for the exchange activities and training programs of the outstanding junior players along the "Belt and Road" countries.
The tournament is an international tennis competition held by Chinese Tennis Association, Yunnan Provincial Bureau of Sport and the local government, aiming to build a platform for exchanges in the sports field with the countries and regions in South Asia and Southeast Asia. Enditem
