BEIRUT, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese State Security on Monday arrested a Syrian national suspected of working with the Islamic State (IS) extremist group to carry out terrorist attacks on Lebanese soil, local media reported.
The suspect, who was arrested in Aramoun, Mount Lebanon, confessed that he was planning to carry out a terrorist attack in Beirut's southern suburb Dahiyeh, a stronghold of Shiite militant group Hezbollah.
"The suspect was also planning an attack against members of the Lebanese army using guns with silencers," said Elnashra, an independent online newspaper.
The report said that the suspect entered Lebanon two years ago and met with members of IS.
"After watching several videos for Daesh (IS), he expressed admiration for the organization and decided to join them," the report added.
