TOKYO, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were mixed Thursday morning as continued concerns about heightening U.S.-Turkey tensions dented sentiment, although a planned resumption of U.S.-China trade talks supported buying.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 29.97 points, or 0.13 percent, from Wednesday to 22,234.19.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 7.12 points, or 0.42 percent, at 1,690.91.
Bank, securities, and electric power and gas issues comprised gainers, while oil and coal product, nonferrous metal, and warehousing and harbor transportation service issues led those that declined the most by the morning break.
