YANGON, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi will pay a working visit to Singapore soon, according to an official announcement Thursday.

Suu Kyi will pay the visit at the invitation of Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, said the announcement without specifying the date of her visit.

It will be Aung San Suu Kyi's another visit to the Southeast Asian member country after that in November-December 2016, during which she held talks with Lee on negotiation between Singapore and Myanmar on a bilateral investment treaty, the avoidance of double taxation agreement signed in 1999 and a three-year extension of the MoU on Myanmar-Singapore vocational training and flights for Singapore airlines between the two countries.

Trade between Myanmar and Singapore reached 3.8 billion U.S. dollars in the fiscal year 2017-18 which ended in March, up 833 million dollars or 28 percent from 2.967 billion dollars in 2016-17, according to statistics of the commerce ministry.

Myanmar-Singapore bilateral relations dated back to the year 1966 when the two countries established diplomatic ties.
