FRANKFURT, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- German shares lost on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index down 195.86 points, or 1.58 percent, to close at 12,163.01 points.
Multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer lost the most among the blue chips, down by 4.06 percent, followed by industrial giant Thyssenkrupp and material manufacturer Covestro, which lost 3.69 percent and 3.48 percent respectively.
Multinational chemical firm Linde, pharmaceutical company Merck and personal-care company Beiersdorf were the top three winners, rising 0.60 percent, 0.45 percent and 0.16 percent respectively.
Bayer was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 535.49 million euros (606.23 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
