MADRID, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- FC Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde said he was pleased with his side's display as they defeated Sevilla 2-1 in Tangiers to win the Spanish Supercup.
A magnificent goal from Ousmane Dembele decided the game, while Ter Stegen saved a last minute penalty from Wissam Ben Yedder to ensure Barca claimed the first trophy of the season.
It was the first time Valverde had been able to field something like the side that will kick off the 2018-19 league campaign next week, and although there were some tired legs at the end of the match, Valverde was content that the goals from Dembele and Pique saw Barca fight back after conceding an early goal to Pablo Sarabia.
"We are happy because we have won a title against a great rival and the circumstances were not easy. A lot of players only returned (after the World Cup) during the week and we were still missing some things," he said.
The coach said he was happy with Dembele's goal which came after a difficult first season at the Camp Nou.
"We have a lot of hope placed in him and he has a lot of talent. today he helped us a lot and scored a great goal," said Valverde, who added he wasn't "thinking about new signings."
"I am thinking about my team and what we will do in our next game... We will see what happens, but my idea is to strengthen the player I have, because they are very good. I want them to improve and to be ambitious," concluded the Barca coach.
