BERLIN, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Michal Haratyk won the men's shot put with a throw of 21.72 meters at the inaugural multi-sport European Championships in Berlin Olympic stadium on Tuesday.
Haratyk reaped his second gold medal within one month after already clinching the first spot at the Athletics World Cup in London in July.
Fellow countryman Konrado Bukowiecki took the silver medal after throwing 21.66 meters. Germany's David Storl grabbed the bronze medal with a 21.41 meters throw.
"Of course it would have been great to win at the European Championship on home soil. I am nevertheless very happy about bronze," Storl said.
The first edition of the European Championships is a multi-sport event and feature seven sports including aquatics events, rowing, gymnastics, cycling, triathlon and golf in Glasgow and athletics in Berlin.
The competition will be held from 2-12 August and will have more than 4,500 athletes competing for 187 gold medals.
