NEW DELHI, July 19 (Xinhua) -- Indian opposition has flayed Home Minister Rajnath Singh's comments on mob lynching, saying that the central government could not run away from the responsibility of checking the increasing number of mob lynching.
As a mark of protest against the minister's comment, the opposition parties Thursday staged a walkout from the parliament.
Speaking in parliament on the recent spate of mob lynching in the country, Singh said earlier Thursday that mob lynching was a state subject and that the state governments should take "strict action" to prevent it.
Senior Congress leader and former union minister Shashi Tharoor said that Singh's statement on mob lynching was not satisfactory at all, "that is why we staged a walkout from the house."
This is not a game of ping pong that states and center keep shifting responsibilities, he added.
