ABUJA, July 16 (Xinhua) -- At least 22 Boko Haram fighters were killed in a gunfight with troops in Nigeria's northeast region, the army said on Monday.
In a statement, the army said several other members of the Boko Haram terror group fled with bullet wounds following the gunfight in Bama area of the northern state of Borno last weekend.
"One officer and a soldier sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical attention at the military medical facility," said the army statement.
The statement added that efforts are being intensified to capture the fleeing terrorists.
