TOKYO, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks rose Tuesday morning as investor sentiment was bolstered by U.S. shares making gains overnight and the yen softening against the U.S. dollar.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 226.33 points, or 1.03 percent, from Monday to 22,278.51.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 16.41 points, or 0.96 percent, at 1,728.20.
Oil and coal product, nonferrous metal and bank-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
