TOKYO, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Monday following advances on Wall Street at the end of last week.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 160.88 points, or 0.74 percent, from Friday to 21,949.02.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 10.94 points, or 0.65 percent, at 1,702.48.
Glass and ceramic product, construction and metal product-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes from the morning bell.
