MACAO, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Macao International Airport (MIA) recorded significant passenger growth in the first half of this year, an increase of 20 percent compared with that of the same period of last year, the MIA said in a recent press release.
The MIA recorded a total of four million passengers in the first half of this year. Meanwhile, flight movements recorded over 31,000 landings and takeoffs, up by 12 percent compared with that of the same period last year, the MIA said on Thursday.
In the first half of 2018, the MIA's three major passengers markets are the Chinese mainland, China's Taiwan Region and the Southeast Asia, which recorded passenger growth of 37 percent, 4 percent and 16 percent respectively over the same period of last year.
The MIA has an average of 22,000 passengers per day in the first half of 2018. Passengers travel with conventional and low cost airlines increased by 26 percent and 9 percent respectively over the same period of last year.
