TOKYO, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Wednesday morning as Wall Street's overnight retreat on trade concerns dented market sentiment here.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 161.60 points, or 0.74 percent, from Tuesday to 21,623.94.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 6.60 points, or 0.39 percent, at 1,686.20.
Electric appliance, machinery and miscellaneous product-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
