YANGON, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Some metal parts of ancient statue weighing 2.17 viss (3.53 kg) have been found by a villager in Mohnyin township, Myanmar's northernmost Kachin state, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Monday.
The 23 pieces of ancient statue, allegedly made of gold and bronze, were discovered by the villager, identified as U Man Oo, in bushes near a tomb on Sunday when he was searching for mushroom.
The villager has handed the ancient artifacts to local township administration which was later transferred to the Department of Archaeology, National Museum and Library.
