BERLIN, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Borussia Dortmund will miss injured Belgian striker Michy Batsuhayi for the remainder of the season, the Bundesliga club announced in an official statement on Monday.
The "BVB" did not only lose the "Revierderby" 2-0 to their local rival Schalke but they also lost Chelsea loanee Batsuhayi to a serious ankle injury in the dying minutes of the game.
Hence, the 24-year-old striker "is likely to miss the rest of the season". The "BVB" gave no further details on Batsuhayi's ankle injury. Besides, it is yet unknown whether the striker's participation at the World Cup in Russia is in doubt.
Nevertheless, it looks like it was the Belgian's last appearance in the Bundesliga, as he will return to Premier League outfit Chelsea at the end of the season.
"My season is probably over and I won't be able to pay Dortmund back for their confidence. Wishing my teammate the best for the final days," Batsuhayi said.
Batsuhayi joined Dortmund in January 2018 to provide seven goals in 10 competitive games.
Dortmund sit currently on the 4th place of the standings. They encounter with third placed Bayer Leverkusen at the 31st round of Bundesliga on Saturday. Enditem
