There will be 47 professional teams from 22 countries and regions competing in this competition in the upcoming 5 days.
The event has 9 professional competitions. There are also many kite shows demonstrating local features.
In addition to the kite delegations from all over China, there are also representatives from the United States, Canada, Germany, Austria, Australia, Japan and other regions, who will bring various models of kites with distinctive features.
Compared with last year, this year's event will have more heavyweight international professionals, offering more competitive contests and more exciting stunt performances, which will be far more spectacular than last year.
In the closing ceremony, ten thousand people will be flying kites together. The amateur area will be set up to create an excellent opportunity for audience and amateurs to fly together with the top kite players in the world.
Kite flying is one of the traditional sports in China. Wuhan has held this International Kite Flying event for two years in a row. In 2017, the Mulan grassland scenic area in Wuhan was awarded the honorary title of "China kite flying base" by Chinese Kite Flying Association, attracting many people from Wuhan city and around to fly kites.
On the sidelines of the competition, a month-long kite festival will be held in Mulan grassland where visitors can take part in activities including handmade kite classes and kite DIY competition.
