RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Rio Open second-round match between Croatian top-seed Marin Cilic and France's Gael Monfils was suspended on Wednesday by heavy rain.
Play was stopped at 7-7 in a second set tiebreaker after Monfils took the first set 6-3 in the ATP 500 clay court event. Officials said the match would resume on Thursday.
The doubles fixture between Marcelo Melo/Lukasz Kubot and Nicolas Jarry/Jiri Vesely was also interrupted with the scores at 4-4 in the second set after Melo/Kubot took the opening set 6-4.
The singles clash between Gastao Elias and Pablo Cuevas and the doubles duel featuring Andre Sa/Thomaz Bellucci against Andres Molten/Horacio Zeballos were also shifted to Thursday. Both matches were yet to begin.
Earlier on Wednesday, Chile's Nicolas Jarry upset fourth seed Albert Ramos-Vinolas of Spain 7-5, 6-3, and Diego Schwartzman beat fellow Argentinian Federico Delbonis 6-2, 6-3.
