U.S. stocks close higher

NEW YORK, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks closed higher on Wednesday.

The Dow was up 0.94 percent, and the S&P 500 rose 1.25 percent, while the Nasdaq increased 1.03 percent.
