HANOI, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- An ammunition depot of a tank-armored vehicle brigade in Vietnam's central highlands region exploded on Wednesday night, causing no casualties, local media reported on Thursday.
The big explosion in Dak Doa district, Gia Lai province, frightened many local residents, making them run away from home, online newspaper VnExpress reported.
The depot is far from barracks, and 2 km away from residential areas, but many residents and soldiers were evacuated to ensure safety.
Dak Doa authorities launched an investigation into the explosion Thursday.
On Jan. 3 in northern Bac Ninh province, a warehouse of a local scrap collector, which was full of old bullets, exploded, killing two kids. The collector has been charged with illegally purchasing and storing bullets.
