HANOI, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Nearly 20,000 products of French dairy giant Lactalis, which are suspected of being contaminated with salmonella bacteria, have entered the Vietnamese market, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs on Thursday.
Vietnamese relevant agencies are recalling Lactalis' formula milk products, for fear of salmonella contamination. Lactalis milk products sold in the Vietnamese market are mainly Celia Mama for pregnant women and Celia Expert for babies and toddlers.
Lactalis, one of the world's biggest dairy producers, said in mid-December that nearly 7,000 tons of products may have been contaminated. It has disinfected facilities at a plant in northwest France, believed to be the source of salmonella contamination.
All the 26 children who had fallen ill in France with links to Lactalis products have recovered, according to French health authorities. A typical symptom of salmonella infection is diarrhea.
