TOKYO, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally higher on Wednesday as investor sentiment here was bolstered by the Dow Jones Industrial Average closing overnight at a five-month high.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 49.81 points, or 0.22 percent, from Tuesday to 22,712.55.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 4.18 points, or 0.24 percent, at 1,750.23.
Oil and coal product, information and communication, and marine transportation-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
