TOKYO, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Tuesday supported by robust Chinese shares and heavily-weighted SoftBank Group's advance after the release of its robust earnings.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 155.42 points, or 0.69 percent, from Monday to close the day at 22,662.74.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 13.15 points, or 0.76 percent, to finish at 1,746.05.
Information and communication, oil and coal product, and mining-oriented issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
