TOKYO, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally higher on Monday as investor sentiment was bolstered by gains made on Wall Street at the end of last week.
As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 34.16 points, or 0.15 percent, from Friday to 22,559.34.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile gained 0.74 point, or 0.04 percent, at 1,743.32.
Information and communication, iron and steel, and transportation equipment-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
