TOKYO, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Friday following Wall Street's gains overnight and a comparatively weak yen against the U.S. dollar.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 313.80 points, or 1.41 percent, from Thursday to 22,501.76.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 13.89 points, or 0.81 percent, at 1,723.57.
Electric appliances, machinery and non-ferrous metal-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes from the morning bell.
