NEW DELHI, July 2 (Xinhua) -- At least five school children have been injured in a road accident in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh Monday, police said.
"The accident occurred when a school bus carrying some 20 students of Nalanda Public School turned turle on Thanabhawan Road in the state's Muzaffarnagar district," a police official said.
All the injured children have been admitted to a government hospital, he said. "They are said to be out of danger."
A probe has been ordered into the incident, the official said. "We will book the bus driver for rash and negligent driving if the probe finds him guilty," he added.
India has the highest number of road fatalities in the world. Road accidents occur mostly due to poor driving or badly maintained roads and vehicles.
