ZAGREB, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Croatian oil company INA has agreed the purchase of the Italian ENI company's share in the gas fields in the northern Adriatic, INA announced on Wednesday.
INA becomes the sole owner of ENI Croatia BV and will continue the exploration and the exploitation of the gas fields in the Marica and North Adriatic areas.
The plan is expected to increase the production to 380,000 cubic meters of gas per day.
INA did not reveal the value of this deal, and the company's announcement states that all the gas produced in the North Adriatic will be directed to supplying Croatia.
The gas produced in the exploitation area Marica will be transported to Italy, as it was agreed by the contract between INA and ENI.
INA is the leading oil and gas company in Croatia, and its largest shareholder is Hungarian MOL. In December 2017, the total number of employees was 10,782. In the oil and gas exploration sector, INA also operates in Angola and Egypt in addition to Croatia.
