KIEV, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine's first long-range helicopter "Nadiya" has made a successful maiden flight on Monday, regional authorities said.
The chopper, developed by the Motor Sich aircraft equipment producer, has taken to the skies from the helicopter aerodrome in Zaporizhia city in southeastern Ukraine, the Zaporizhia regional administration said.
Equipped with two turbocharged engines, "Nadiya" is a multipurpose helicopter which can be used on rescue, medical aid and patrolling missions.
The chopper has a seating capacity of up to 10 people, a maximum speed of 230 km per hour and a flying range of 720 km.
Previously, Ukrainian enterprises only produced small helicopters which can cover a distance of no more than 600 km.
