TOKYO, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Thursday, following a weak lead from Wall Street overnight amid intensifying geopolitical concerns pertaining to the U.S. and the Middle East.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 75.78 points, or 0.35 percent, from Wednesday to 21,611.32.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 6.42 points, or 0.37 percent, at 1,718.88.
Rubber product, marine transportation and machinery-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
