BEIJING, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has arrived in China for the 2018 Boao Forum for Asia annual conference and an official visit on April 8-12 at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.

The following is a profile of Rutte.

Born in 1967 in The Hague, Rutte obtained a master's degree in history from Leiden University in 1992.

He served as state secretary for social affairs and employment from 2002 to 2004.

In 2004, he took the post of state secretary for education, culture and science.

In 2006 he was elected as the leader of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), and served as the parliamentary leader of the VVD in the Second Chamber, or the House of Representatives.

Rutte became Dutch prime minister in 2010, and was re-elected twice in 2012 and 2017.

Rutte is single and has no children.
