RABAT, March 9 (Xinhua) -- A Ghanaian national was arrested at Mohammed V International Airport in the Moroccan city of Casablanca for attempting to smuggle 4.1 kg of cocaine, Morocco's police said in a statement on Friday.
The drug was hidden in the backpack of the 41-year-old suspect, who arrived from Sao Paulo in Brazil, the statement added.
The suspect was remanded in custody to complete the investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor's, it noted.
Morocco has seized a record 2.84 tons of cocaine in 2017, 1.5 tons more than the amount seized in 2016.
