JAKARTA, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 jolted Indonesia's eastern region of Maluku on Monday, but no tsunami alert was issued.
The earthquake occurred on 8:34 p.m. local time (1334 GMT) with its epicenter at 79 km northeast of Maluku's Buru Island at the depth of 10 km, according to Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics agency.
The earthquake was detected at III to IV Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) scale in Namlea subdistrict and II to III MMI scale in Kairatu subdistrict.
Tremors were felt by people inside and outside buildings, the agency reported. The tremors have made doors and windows shaking.
No significant damage has been reported from the earthquake so far, the agency said.
