HANGZHOU, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev on Friday expressed the hope that the upcoming G20 summit can chart a course for the world economy, cultivate growth engines and boost global confidence.

Xi held talks with Nazarbayev in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou, who was invited here as a leader of the guest countries to the 11th summit of the Group of 20 major economies on Sept. 4-5.

The two leaders also witnessed the inking of several cooperation documents involving agriculture, inspection and quarantine, the China-Kazakhstan Cooperation Committee, and a project of cooperation between China's Silk Road Economic Belt initiative and Kazakhstan's new economic policy of the Bright Road.

Next year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of China-Kazakhstan diplomatic ties.

Xi said that the anniversary will provide an opportunity for both to consolidate their good-neighborly friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and strengthen strategic coordination as comprehensive strategic partners.

The priorities of future cooperation could focus on the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and policy aligning, Xi said.

He suggested that both countries steadily boost manufacturing and investment collaboration in terms of competitive and high value-added products, expand trade through broadened financing channels and deepen collaboration in energy and resources, culture and security.

China would like to consolidate communication with Kazakhstan to elevate its trade, investment and service cooperation with the members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), and jointly advance the cooperation between the Belt and Road Initiative and the EEU, said Xi.

China also supports Kazakhstan to host next year's summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the 2017 World Expo in Astana, he added.

Nazarbayev said Kazakhstan had maintained long-term friendship and strong political trust with China, valued its comprehensive strategic partnership with China and will further align its new economic policy with China's initiatives.

He also said that Kazakhstan looks forward to closer cooperation with China in trade, agriculture, energy, petroleum processing, environmental protection and security, and would strengthen communication with China on regional affairs and within the framework of the SCO.
